Primer-enamel XB-0278 is a suspension of pigments and fillers in a solution of perchlorovinyl, alkyd and epoxy resins in organic solvents with the introduction of a rust modifier and other additives.

PURPOSE

Primer-enamel ХВ-0278 is intended for painting steel and cast-iron structures with residues of scale and tightly adhering rust (thickness of corrosion products up to 70 microns) exposed to an industrial atmosphere containing corrosive gases and vapors, as well as to the effects of salts and other chemical reagents with temperature not higher than + 60ºС. Primer-enamel XB-0278 covers surfaces that, for various reasons, cannot be thoroughly cleaned. Therefore, it is often used for large-sized products, with a complex profile, on products with tightly adhered rust and scale. Also, the primer-enamel perfectly withstands adverse weather conditions and application on a sweaty surface. Primer-enamel XB-0278 is actively used for gratings, fences, garages, for car repairs, for priming any rusty surfaces and metal structures. It is a very effective and widespread corrosion protection agent that has proven its reliability for decades.

PROPERTIES

Primer-enamel XB-0278 combines 3 properties in one material:

- rust converter, stopping the further development of metal corrosion;

- primer, providing adhesive and anticorrosive properties of the coating;

- enamel, which determines the protective and decorative properties of the coating: a smooth matte finish, resistant to water, salts, high humidity.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Before painting, the steel surface is cleaned of old, flimsy coating, loose rust and scale, dirt, oils, then dust is removed and degreased with solvent R-4 or R-4A.

APPLICATION METHOD

Before use, the primer-enamel for rust is thoroughly mixed. For brush, roller, airless spray and dipping applications, no thinning of the primer enamel is required. When applied by pneumatic spraying, the primer-enamel is diluted to a viscosity convenient for work with a solvent P-4 or P-4A. Primer-enamel 3 in 1 is applied to the surface: when used as an independent coating - in 3 layers, in a complex coating - in 2 layers and covered with enamel. When painting a metal surface covered with tightly adhering rust, it is recommended to apply the first (developing) layer of primer-enamel with a thickness of no more than 10-15 microns to improve adhesion. The thickness of each subsequent coating layer is 28-32 microns. The total thickness of the three-layer coating is 70-80 microns. Primer-enamel 3 in 1 XB-0278 is applied at an ambient temperature of -10 to + 35°C.
Consumption of primer-enamel for a single-layer coating is 100-150 g/m².

TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE

Primer-enamel for rust XB-0278 is stored in a tightly closed container, protected from direct sunlight and moisture. The guaranteed shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture.
