VINYL ACETATE
Vinyl acetate (chemical formula C4H6O2) refers to vinyl esters and is a vinyl acetate. It is a colorless liquid with a characteristic odor.
Vinyl acetate tends to dissolve well in organic solvents, but it is poorly soluble in water. When mixed with water, azeotropic mixtures are formed. The chemical characteristics of VA correspond in general to all vinyl esters. It is prone to hydrolysis reactions in acidic or alkaline media, with the formation of acetic acid and acetaldehyde.
APPLICATION:
- obtained polyvinyl acetate (PVA);
- obtaining polyvinyl alcohol (PVA);
- production of polyvinyl acetals;
- copolymers with vinyl chloride (vinyl), ethylene, esters of acrylic acid, styrene, etc.
