METHYL ACETATE
Methyl acetate (chemical formula C3H6O2) is an organic substance of the ester class. It is a clear liquid, soluble in water.
Methyl acetate mixes well with organic solvents. It is similar to acetone in solubility, so it can be used as its analogue. It is miscible in all respects with ethyl ether and ethanol, soluble in chloroform, acetone and benzene. The product is a universal solvent for paints, pigments, resins, polyester varnishes, polymers, ethylcellulose and nitrocellulose. It is part of many household and industrial solvents.
APPLICATION:
- for the production of composite varnishes, adhesives, magnetic tapes, fillers, stain removers, cellulose esters, car cosmetics, polymethyl methacrylate, polyvinyl acetate, animal and vegetable fats and various synthetic resins;
- as an extractant in analytical chemistry;
- as a raw material for industrial synthesis.
