ETHYLCELLOSOLV

Ethylcellosolve is ethyl ether of ethylene glycol.

Clear and easily mobile liquid without color, with a characteristic smell of alcohol and glycol. Water-soluble, normally soluble in almost all organic solvents in any ratio. Burns, can ignite spontaneously. Forms explosive mixtures with air. Toxic.

The chemical properties are similar to those of ethylene glycol and ethers. Cellosolv is chemically stable and inactive. Does not react with alkali metals. Interacts with oxygen, reacts violently with aluminum, strong acids and alkalis.

APPLICATION:

Ethylcellosolve is used in paints of any type, including polyester, epoxy, urea-formaldehyde:
- to mix with water organic substances which do not dissolve in water;
- for dissolution of old coverings (paint, soot, etc.), for degreasing;
- solvent in printing houses, ingredient of ink solutions;
- additive in aviation, motor, jet fuels to prevent freezing of the water contained in them;
- is a part of popular solvents PE-2B, PE-3B, PE-4B, P-60.
